Surcharge Program

 

Commercial and industrial customers with discharges other than normal strength sewage (this includes sanitary sewerage, industrial wastes, water or other liquids either directly or indirectly discharged to MSD) may also pay a wastewater treatment system surcharge based on the concentrations of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), suspended solids (SS), and Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) present in the discharge.

 

Commercial and industrial customers are sampled periodically to determine the levels of BOD, SS, and TKN present. Facilities subject to a surcharge will see Effluent Charges listed on their Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) billing statement.
